Kenya.

It is with a bursting sense of excitement that I announce my upcoming adventure to Kenya! I am proud and humbled to take on a communications role with the Daraja Academy (website: click here), a 60-acre campus at the foot of Mt. Kenya about 4 hours (driving) outside of Nairobi. I am thankful for the opportunity to dive into back into the non-profit world doing things that I love to do:
working on Daraja’s website, social media, blogging, and getting to know the exceptional young ladies attending the school and the closely knit group of staff, administration & volunteers from around the world.

There are so many memories I can’t wait to create: standing under the vast Kenyan sky gazing up at the stars, getting drenched in n 85 degree downpour, learning as many words & phrases of different languages that I can, soaking up every moment of tribal culture that I’m exposed to. But most of all, meeting the girls of Daraja. They are heroes, each one. Many having traveled days to start a new life, a new home at the Daraja Academy. They are beautiful, and smart, each one an inspiring spirit just for having made it there. I can’t wait to sing with them, sit in on their journalism club, cheer on their athletic clubs, learn their names and their stories, about their tribes and families.

I have borrowed pictures from Matt (for more info about what Matt is doing in Kenya, click here) and Leah, two incredible people hopefully eagerly anticipating my arrival (lol) who are already in the area. I say borrowed, because I fully plan on taking ONE MILLION of my own pictures and posting them soon, internet permitting :)

Doing the write thing,
anj.
